Celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber are attempting to turn back the clock using anti-aging NAD+ therapy - but could it also be the next big treatment to help boost fertility?
The molecule can be metabolized into your body in various ways - through IV drips, injections, and even through oral supplements.
It's been touted by A-listers like Gwyneth Paltrow, and is also a hit with podcasters Joe Rogan and Brendan Schaub, who both raved about the treatment in 2019.
The buzzy new treatment, typically given by IV drip therapy, promises tons of alleged benefits to its users - like improving signs of aging and cognitive function, as well as possibly assisting in repairing the look of aging skin.
It could also have anti-inflammatory effects, increase insulin sensitivity, and may even help to improve exercise performance in older people, according to reports.
But after other recent studies, does it also have a role in encouraging fertility?
Many longevity doctors, including New York City's popular Dr. Amanda Kahn, believe that it can make a difference.
And, on social media, some are swearing by NAD+, writing on forums like Reddit that it's something that they did along with their IVF treatment.

In June, journalist Amanda Lauren shared her story with Popsugar, revealing that she believes NAD+ treatment had helped her, as it doubled her egg count after multiple failed rounds of IUIs and IVF.
Shortly after receiving the IV therapy, she said that she ended up getting pregnant naturally and carried a healthy baby girl to term, she told the outlet.
Jamie Gabel PA-C, Clinical Director for Advitam at the Shafer Clinic in NYC broke things down further to Daily Mail, explaining that NAD+ has two primary functions in your body - energy metabolism, and cell signaling and repair.
He said that NAD+ 'shuttles electrons in cellular respiration, allowing cells to make ATP (energy),' while the enzymes found in the molecule work to 'regulate DNA repair, stress responses, circadian rhythms, and inflammation.'
But what does all of this really mean? Should everyone be running to trade in fertility medication in favor of NAD+?
In short, the answer is no - but experts believe it could be used as a supplemental tool, alongside other fertility treatments.
Dr. Lamees Hamdan, Integrative Medical Doctor & Founder of Timebeam Beauty, told Daily Mail that she would indeed recommend NAD+ supplements for those trying to conceive at an advanced maternal age - which is considered to be anyone who over 35.

'In a nutshell, if you are an older woman trying to conceive, then yes, I would recommend NAD+ boosters, but I would not recommend IV drips, only oral supplementation with good quality NAD+ boosters,' Dr. Hamdan told Daily Mail exclusively.
'Because although human trials are very limited, in animals, NAD+ has shown to produce a younger egg cell and also to protect a developing embryo from older maternal issues that may arise,' she shared.
She also explained that this isn't just for women - she says NAD+ supplements can be beneficial for men, too, as it can 'boost the integrity of sperm.'
These NAD+ boosters may become a 'mainstay' for 'older couples wanting healthier sperm and eggs,' Dr. Hamdan said.
Gabel agrees that there are signs pointing in a positive direction about the relationship between NAD+ and fertility.
Though, so far, these studies have been performed on mice, and not humans.
'Egg quality and ovarian reserve are mainly dependent on mitochondria (which is where NAD+ is utilized),' Gabel explained to Daily Mail exclusively.
'Studies in aging mice show that NAD+ precursors (NMN, NR) restore mitochondrial function, reduce oxidative stress, and improve egg quality,' Gabel continued.
'NAD+ also regulates ovarian aging, follicle maturation, and DNA repair.'
But even though it may help the quality of your eggs, Gabel shared that he doesn't believe that NAD+ can replace 'established fertility treatments,' like IVF.
'I can see it being used for supportive treatment,' Gabel explained.
'If mouse and early human data continue to show benefits for egg quality and ovarian reserve, NAD+ precursors could become an adjunct therapy, especially for women with advanced maternal age or diminished ovarian reserve,' he shared.
