Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Meredith Marks has revealed a unique hack for removing stains from clothing - and it's actually a pointer that was given to her by another Bravo star.

Marks, 52, who has been on the hit show since its inception in 2020, shared the useful tip during a recent interview with Page Six as part of their 'Affordable Hacks' series.

'A holy grail product under $50 that I use is spray Dawn dish detergent,' she said in the video.

The product, which can be found at most drug and grocery stores, retails for around just $5.

But here's the catch - Marks isn't using the product to clean off her dishes after dinner.

Instead, she's using it to remove stains on her clothing, and Mary Cosby, her fellow Real Housewives of Salt Lake city costar, was the one who gave her the intel in the first place.

'I have to credit Mary Cosby for this one, because she is the one who told me about it, but it literally takes out every stain out of clothing, anything,' Marks explained in the clip, which was posted to TikTok.

The jewelry brand owner instructed that all you need to do is spray the dish detergent on your stained clothing, and let it sit for ten minutes.

Once you've done that, all you need to do is pop it in the washing machine, and the garment will be good as new.

'I've had things I've thought I had to throw out, that like, I've brought back to life, so, thank you Mary,' Marks admitted.

And, it looks like Marks and Cosby are definitely onto something here.

Dawn recommends using their products for spot treatment as well, detailing that you should rub it in the stain and then follow up by using Tide in the washing machine.

And, for food stains that happen on the spot while dining, you can also apply dish soap right away to the stain.

However, spot treatment might be the only thing you want to use dish soap for.

According to a July article by Consumer Reports, it's not always the best thing to use strictly in place of detergent and right into your washing machine.

Their laundry expert, Rich Handel, told the outlet that he 'would be concerned about the dish soap causing a lot of suds,' as it is a different formula than regular detergent.

Handel also warned that washing certain clothing fabrics, like silk, with dish soap, could ruin them.
