I am still dealing with this necrosis of the jaw. One of my wonderful blog readers recommended a doctor in Miami who specializes in jaw problems. After five doctors telling me there is nothing I can do, and that I had to “live with it,” I turned to all of you, and you saved me.
I am now on the antibiotic he recommended – which will reduce the swelling of my gums (the source of the pain) – and a wash, which I swish through my mouth three times a day to keep the wound clean.
While not as bad as hearing the words, “You have cancer,” being told, “You’ll just have to live with the pain,” is so demoralizing. It’s only been a day and a half, so I will give this some time. I am still in pain, but at least now I have hope!
My girlfriend came to visit yesterday saying, “Don’t ever believe there is nothing you can do. There is always something. If you don’t have the energy to find it, ask your family and friends to research and find it for you.”
I found my answer through all of you. Thank you for your helpful suggestions, and most of all, for your compassion!
