Charlize Theron is 'trying to keep' her 'head above water' with her children Jackson and August: 'They're firecrackers'

Charlize Theron spoke out raising her daughters Jackson, 12, and August, nine. 

'Oh my God, they're so embarrassed by me constantly. They're kids, they're girls, you know? I have a preteen and I feel like I have a nine year old who thinks she's a 13 year old. It's a lot of girl in our house,' the Oscar winner, 48, said during her interview with E! News on July 13 at her Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP). 

The actress, 48, said she's 'just trying to keep my head above water, because they are smart and they are witty and they are firecrackers, but they do not go, "Oh my god, Mom, you're so amazing." They're like, "Excuse me, I need. I want."' 

'They're 'normal kids,' jokingly adding: 'They're a*****es, but they're really nice. Other parents know what I'm talking about.'

Charlize adopted Jackson in 2012 and August in 2015. 

The screen star has shared snaps of her kids on her Instagram page of their family adventures. 

The trio recently enjoyed a trip to Disney World, with Charlize posting three images from their magical holiday.

One month later, Charlize took August to the Christian Dior pre-fall 2024 fashion show in New York City.

The actress dazzled in a black and cream hued ensemble, adding layers of gold jewelry.

August looked adorable in a letterman jacket with a mini Dior handbag. 

In September 2023, Charlize took eldest daughter Jackson to the Dior show in Paris, with Charlize look chic in a button up top with beaded skirt.

Jackson donned a plaid ensemble as she sat next to her mom. 

The trio also attended the Taylor Swift Eras concert last August at SoFi Stadium.

They were filmed dancing in the VIP section of the concert.

In December 2022, Charlize said she would give up her career for her children if she had to choose between the two, she revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.Charlize said: 'I love being a mom more than I love being an actor or a producer. And I never thought I would say that. If somebody said to me tomorrow, "You can't do both," would I be sad to give up acting? Of course. But it would be a no-brainer for me.'

She added that her current bucket list is all about her kids: 'Right now, everything I do revolves around when my kids are out of school for the summer, which usually means we're shooting in a heat wave somewhere.'

'In 10 years, I can definitely see myself being an empty nester and just packing up and traveling three continents [directing] a TV show. But that's not my life now,' the South African-born star said.
