Richard Osman has revealed major changes to House Of Games ahead of Michael Sheen becoming the BBC quiz show's new host.

The presenter and author, 55, announced earlier this month that he would be leaving the programme, having fronted it since 2017.

Days later, it was confirmed that Michael, 57, would be taking over - and now fans are learning what changes are in store.

Speaking on his podcast The Rest is Entertainment, Richard told how the Welsh actor would be making the show his own.

He said: 'One of the things they’re currently doing is producing prizes with his face on. So it will be called Michael Sheen’s House of Games.’

At the moment, filming has not yet begun on Richard's final episodes and Michael's debut installments.

The Pointless co-creator told co-host Marina Hyde that he will return to Salford for a final week of taping - including a 'handover' episode.

Although Michael will not be featuring as a contestant on Richard's version of the game show.

Richard added: 'We all want everyone to know how delighted we are Michael’s doing it. So there’s a continuation.

'I want to welcome him as well. He’s got the best team in telly there and he’ll have an absolute ball.’

Addressing whether he would ever return as a player, Richard said yes, but not in the near future.

He elaborated: 'I think that's too meta and you have to let someone get their feet under the table.

'But one day I'd love to. In a few years. Christmas week or something like that.'

Richard ended with: '‘I wish him such luck. I messaged him the other day and said this is such a fun show to do and such a lovely gang.

'It’s a great show for him and he’s a great host for it.'

However, House Of Games is reportedly not the only major BBC show that Michael has signed up for.

He is said to have signed up for the next Celebrity Traitors, having been an expert in playing 'a string of lying and scheming’ characters'.

A source told The Sun: 'Michael has had a lot of practice playing lying, duplicitous and scheming men - the Traitors should be a breeze.

'He is very much seen as a ‘big dog’ signing. Behind the scenes, everyone is hugely excited. Michael is a massive fan of the show so it makes total sense that he would want to be a part of it.

'This year’s show has some incredible names, a real blend of characters, and promises to be incredible.'

Daily Mail has contacted Michael's representatives and the BBC for comment.

It comes after host Claudia Winkleman revealed on Thursday that the line-up for Celebrity Traitors series two has been secured - and she was left gobsmacked when she saw the names.

The BBC's star-studded spinoff first aired in late 2025, with comedian Alan Carr winning as a Traitor.

On Wednesday (March 25), Claudia appeared on The One Show to promote her newly launched BBC chat show.

She was asked whether more 'big dogs' were set for Celebrity Traitors, following the big names from series one.

Claudia replied: 'There certainly are.

'The people who make it are extraordinary and they had to repeat the people twice to me because I was like, "Huh, are you joking? Come again". So, we’re incredibly lucky.'

During the conversation, Claudia addressed whether famous faces were lining up to enter the castle - after the success of the first Celebrity Traitors.

She said: 'Yeah, I hope so. We’re so grateful that people want to come and play the game.

'And the people who said yes for series one, I still can’t believe it. I was shaking when you see Stephen Fry walking around the castle and Alan Carr, Ruth Codd, all of these people I was obsessed by.

'I’m very excited. But I can’t say anything else, don’t make eye contact with me.'
