BBC viewers delighted after Ghosts star announces hit sitcom is making a comeback three years after show axe

The beloved BBC sitcom Ghosts is officially returning to screens three years after it was axed in 2023 to fans' devastation.
Centred on an English country house that's haunted by ghosts from different eras, the comedy was centred around the ghosts' relationship with the home's very modern and very much alive occupants.
Now, Matthew Baynton - AKA Thomas Thorne - has revealed that the story will be returning in the form of a feature film.
Taking to Instagram on Friday, the star wrote: 'Yes, we are making a film! GHOSTS: The Possession of Button House
'We are so excited to be doing this and very grateful to everyone who is making it happen.'
The post was accompanied by a cast picture featuring Matthew alongside Simon Farnaby, Laurence Rickard, Ben Willbond and Martha Howe-Douglas.

The post went down a storm with fans of the show and within just a few hours, it had been liked by over 40,000 people.
Sharing their total excitement, fans wrote: 'I'm seated. The theater employees are scared and asking me to leave because 'filming hasn't started yet' but I'm simply too seated.';
'this is genuinely the best news ive ever heard.';

News of the reboot comes after Mathew teased a possible comeback on Wednesday, sharing a picture of the country estate's wooden door swinging open.
The creators/writers said in a statement that the script for the film was so good that they 'couldn't resist' revisiting the Ghosts' world
Following the announcement, the BBC confirmed that filming would begin on GHOSTS: The Possession of Button House in March.
The creators/writers said in a statement: 'We thought we had said goodbye to Button House at the end of the final series. We never planned to come back.
'But when we had the idea for this story, we all got so excited that we couldn't resist returning to our haunted home for one more adventure.
We can't wait to be together and to welcome some brilliant new faces, to tell this soul-stirring tale of life and death.'
