Alison Hammond has been blasted for yet ANOTHER blunder on This Morning while discussing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's arrest.

The TV personality, 51, was once again addressing the developing news surrounding the disgraced royal's arrest on Thursday under suspicion of misconduct in public office. Prior to this, Andrew was accused of having sex with the late Virginia Giuffre when she was underage.

Virginia claimed she was trafficked to the prince by the convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew denies having ever met her, despite paying her millions in an out-of-court settlement.

When the subject came up on the show, despite its notoriety, Alison mispronounced Virginia's surname, calling her Virginia 'Guff' and not Virginia Giuffre.

She said: 'Should we talk about some of the victims? The relatives of the late Virginia Guff, who claimed she was trafficked to prison to have sex with Andrew, have shared their reaction to his arrest.'

This went far from unnoticed by This Morning viewers, who were still reeling from the host's bizarre decision to question why Andrew was arrested on his birthday yesterday.

This Morning viewers blasted: 'Virginia Guff?? #ThisMorning';

'Why doesn't Alison research correct pronunciation of people's names…? honestly, how did she get through the first interview stage #ThisMorning';

'Alison calling Virginia Giuffre Virginia Guff. Honestly appalling presenter #ThisMorning';

'Just when you think Alison's presenting skills couldn't get any worse, they do. #thismorning';

'I like Alison but when it comes to serious topics she’s completely out of her depth #thismorning.';

'#ThisMorning delivering a grovelling "serious debate" after Alison's "Why would you arrest someone on their birthday?" cock up yesterday.'

After Alison's blunder, she quickly corrected herself on the programme, telling viewers: 'Sorry, it is Virginia Giuffre, I do apologise.'

Following Andrew's arrest on Thursday he was released without charge, but the investigation into his behaviour continues.

It is claimed that he passed on confidential information to Epstein in his position as UK trade envoy - a crime that carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

Alison was subject to similar online criticism on Thursday after she questioned why the police chose to arrest the former prince on his birthday specifically.

Talking about the breaking news story at the start of the show, Alison, 51, was quick to offer up her opinion on the arrest.

She told her co-stars: 'They could've done it yesterday, the day before his birthday.'

Viewers of the ITV series immediately flooded social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to hit back against Alison's comment, calling it 'weird'.

One penned: 'Alison saying "surely they didn't have to arrest him on his birthday". What a weird comment about an "alleged" predator.'

Another chimed in: 'Imagine if Alison was a police officer. Her boss: "We're arresting Prince Andrew in the morning" Alison: "We can't be doing that bab, it's his birthday tomorrow, he's probably made plans".'

A third hit out at Alison, calling her a 'moron' for making the suggestion that the police had 'spoiled his birthday', writing: 'Shouldn't spoil his birthday. F**king moron.'

'Alison saying they shouldn't arrest him on his birthday?' a fourth added, while a fifth wrote: 'Alison so far out of her depth here. Dreadful.'

'Alison says the stupid part out loud again,' someone else concluded.

The presenter's latest controversial comment on Friday came during a powerful discussion where Ashley James broke down in tears on This Morning while discussing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's arrest.

Ashley was among a panel of guests discussing the former royal having been arrested yesterday.

Speaking on This Morning about Andrew's arrest and having watched a short clip of Virginia Giuffre's family, she said, dabbing tears from her eyes: 'I felt very emotional watching this actually. There's a reason I feel so upset about it.

'So many of us have watched the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein try to get justice and I felt a huge sense of relief yesterday watching Andrew be arrested.

‘Of course, his arrest is about state matters and not about the alleged sexual abuse of Virginia Giuffre, who of course is no longer here.

'I think the fact that it took so long and she is no longer here for justice to be served.'

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV1 from 10am and is available to stream on ITVX.
