Married At First Sight 'sexpert' Alessandra Rampolla proved she does not suffer fools gladly on Tuesday night, after a fiery clash with groom Steve Powell.

The confrontation started when the grooms were discussing the racy intimacy week challenges set by their brides.

Steve, 50, explained to the group that his wife Rebecca Zukowski, 51, had opted not to wear the sexy lingerie she had purchased out of respect for his conservative sensibilities.

He then made the bizarre claim that his reluctance to take part in the racy challenge had actually strengthened their relationship.

'She chose not to dress up and make me uncomfortable,' he said. 'It actually bonded us... she brought us closer by not doing that.'

This claim confused Alessandra and Steve's fellow grooms, particularly Scott McCristal, 33, whose bride, Gia Fleur, 35, went shopping for the sexy outfits with an excited Rebecca.

Backflipping on his earlier claim, Steve then admitted that after the challenge, the pair had an argument, off camera, that led to him spending the night in another bed. He also admitted to questioning Rebecca's motives for being in the experiment.

'Rebecca was saying the only reason she is here is to find love and I kind of called her out on that because I'm sure there's other reasons she's here also,' Steve said.

This did not sit well with Alessandra, 51, who replied that she believed Rebecca's motives were true, having interviewed her during the audition process.

'So on her ultimate fantasy night, she doesn't get to act out her fantasy and got none of the feeling of desire but then got a little judgement on why she's here,' she said.

'It doesn't sound very good for Rebecca.'

After Steve suggested the situation wasn't good for him, either, the 'sexpert' replied: 'You did stay here and say you wanted to work on the relationship and when presented with the opportunity to help her understand that she is somebody that you are attracted to...'

Steve then added the telling caveat: 'I said I could be attracted to Rebecca. There's an internal attractiveness and there's an external.'

Alessandra asked Steve which he was attracted to and, after taking a moment, he replied: 'Rebecca is a beautiful woman, there's parts of Rebecca's personality which are beautiful as well.'

'I don't have an earpiece in my ear. I'm not waiting for someone to tell me what to say,' Steve (pictured) said

This did not sit well with Alessandra, who accused Steve of 'skirting around' her questions and 'trying to sound good.'

This set Steve visibly on edge and he replied with a curt: 'I'm trying to sound good? Okay, I disagree with you. Ask me a question, I'll give you a genuine answer.'

He then, to the shock of the assembled grooms, questioned Alessandra's credibility.

'I don't have an earpiece in my ear. I'm not waiting for someone to tell me what to say,' he said.

When she replied that nobody was feeding her lines through an earpiece, Steve shot back a cynical laugh.

'Honestly the lack of respect that you're showing me as somebody who's here to help guide you is appalling,' she said. 'Really tread lightly. I don't take to this well.'

As the other grooms began to admonish Steve for his comments, the beleaguered groom attempted to backpedal, claiming he was not referring to Alessandra.

'Who else would you be referring to?' she asked. 'Honestly, it's so absurd. Again, Steve. Do not even.'

It seems that Alessandra's dressing down had little effect on Steve, who told a producer that a lot of what she said fell on deaf ears.

'I didn't take a lot of it to be honest,' he said, flippantly.

'I find there was a lot of contradiction in the room. I listened, I heard and, as I said I didn't really take anything from it, to be honest.'

Things went from bad to worse for Steve after he arrived back at the hotel room for another confrontation with Rebecca, in which she accused him of not making an effort in the relationship and displaying little accountability.

Steve said he wasn't interested in taking part in what he described as 'soft porn' in a bid to be more intimate with Rebecca, which his bride slammed as laughable.

That proved to be the last straw for the couple, with Steve packing a bag and leaving his betrothed – but not before taking a cruel dig at Rebecca.

'At least you get to be yourself now and you can give them the TV gold that you've been holding back on, yeah?' he said. 'So, go for it.'

Rebecca was no less scathing in her parting assessment of Steve.

'He would have to be the weakest man I've ever met in my entire life,' she told producers.
