Peaky Blinders is back! BBC and Netflix team up for two more series of acclaimed gangster drama following 'the new generation of Shelbys'

Peaky Blinders will return with a bang to the BBC and Netflix, telling the story of a new generation of Shelbys, from writer and creator Steven Knight.
The two new series, will be produced by Kudos, who are behind the likes of SAS Rogue Heroes, House of Guinness and Grantchester, and Garrison Drama, who produced the first six series of Peaky Blinders and are behind the follow-on film, for BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
The action will pick up in 1953, as Birmingham is still rebuilding itself from the heavy bombing that happened during World War II, across two sets of six episodes.
Plus, it's been confirmed that beloved show-star Cillian Murphy will be making a return, at least behind the cameras, as he's named among the Executive Producers.
The synopsis for the upcoming series, which is also being backed by streaming giants Netflix, reads: 'Britain, 1953. After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel.'

The two series will be filmed at Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham, and will be set in the city.
Peaky Blinders creator and writer Steven Knight celebrated the show's return, saying: 'I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story.
'Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz.
'The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.'
The BBC's Lindsay Salt added: 'This game-changing show made a huge impact when it first came to our screens 12 years ago and it is one of the BBC’s most-loved dramas.
'Steven has worked his magic once again and I can’t wait for his scripts to be brought to life when filming begins in Birmingham.
'We are delighted to be working with Kudos, Garrison Drama and Netflix on this epic show. There’s plenty of drama for Peaky fans to look forward to!'
The series has previously run for six series, and a movie has been in the works

Peaky Blinders ran for six series after its release in 2013
The lead actor was seen jumping onto a horse to reprise the role of Tommy Shelby for the upcoming film.
Netflix announced in June 2024 that the feature film had been greenlit and would go into production later this year.
In June it was confirmed that the Peaky Blinders' original writing and directing team will be returning alongside Cillian for the Netflix film adaptation of the hit British series.
Netflix confirmed the news on X with a photograph of the script, while the Oscar winning actor told Deadline: 'It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn't finished with me…
'It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.'
Peaky Blinders launched in 2013 and garnered huge audiences both in Britain and overseas, attracting roles for silver-screen stars such as Tom Hardy and Anya Taylor-Joy.
The programme is loosely based on a real Birmingham gang of the same name operating from the 1880s to the 1920s who did the same illegal activities their fictional counterparts did.
