Patriots rookie Will Campbell admits to kicking a cat as he opens up on childhood phobia: 'I booted that thing'
Super Bowl media week often throws out a bizarre story or two, and that was certainly the case for New England Patriots rookie Will Campbell this week.
After answering the usual questions about Sunday's big game against the Seattle Seahawks, the offensive tackle's attention turned to revealing a surprise childhood phobia: cats.
Not only that, but he told reporters a wild story about how things turned violent when he once stayed over at a friend's house during his school days.
'So crazy', he began. 'I was staying the night at my boy's house whenever we were in high school. And I went in the room that I was sleeping in and it was pitch black, dark. You couldn't see your hand in front of your face.
'And I take my shirt off, I'm about to get into bed, and I just hear [a screech]. And a cat jumped out from under his bed onto my leg. I booted that thing up against the ceiling.'
When questioned by stunned journalists about whether he was actually telling the truth about kicking the animal, he confirmed: 'Yeah, I kicked it! It was biting me! I'm not just gonna let it.'

Campbell has enjoyed a remarkable rookie season after being drafted at No 4 overall last year
Campbell, a 6-foot-6, 319lb offensive tackle in the NFL, has a childhood phobia of cats
He was then asked if he later apologized to the feline, but Campbell was in no mood to back down: 'No, it needs to apologize for biting my damn leg.'
Patriots fans will be hoping Campbell will be a little less fearful on Sunday when he comes up against the Seahawks defense while trying to protect his quarterback Drake Maye.
After being drafted No 4 overall last year, the 22-year-old ex-LSU star has enjoyed a brilliant rookie year, starting 13 games.
He missed four, all through injury, after a Grade 3 MCL sprain that saw him sit out the entirety of December. He was back for Week 18, though, and is a full go for Sunday's big game.
