The Las Vegas Raiders have officially released quarterback Derek Carr after he opted to enter free agency by telling the team he would reject any trade the agreement they came to.
Carr had a no trade clause in his contract, but it did have a clause that would have guaranteed him $40.4million if he were still on the Raiders roster tomorrow.
Utilizing the clause to reject any potential trade backed the Raiders into a corner forcing his release after the sides agreed that he would depart the franchise during the offseason several months ago before he was benched for the final two games if the regular season.
Carr is expected to draw interest from a number of teams including the New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, and more.

He just recently participated in his fourth Pro-Bowl & leaves Vegas with many Raiders records
Saints head coach Dennis Allen was was the Raiders' head coach from 2012 to 2014, and he coached Carr in his first four NFL games in 2014 before getting fired after an 0-4 start to the season.
Carr visited the Saints last week sparking rumors that he was doing due diligence before a trade until he opted for free agency.
The Jets have also been linked to him for months and recently hired former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing as their new passing-game coordinator.
Downing also has history with Carr after serving as Raiders quarterbacks coach in 2015 and 2016, before serving as Raiders offensive coordinator in 2017. Carr made the Pro Bowl in all three of those seasons.
NFL Networks Ian Rapoport reported that Carr is expected to take multiple visits now that he is free to talk to teams.
In what amounted to his final 15 games in a Raiders uniform Carr threw for 3,522 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions.
For his career Carr has thrown for 35,222 yards, 217 touchdowns, and 99 interceptions.
Those yardage and touchdown numbers, as well as the 3,201 completed passes all rank Carr as the Raiders all time leader in each category.
