Rosenior: 'We needed elements of luck today'

Liam Rosenior had admitted Chelsea needed some luck today to see off Wrexham, but stressed both the red card and Wrexham's disallowed goal were correct decisions by VAR.

We needed elements of luck today because Wrexham were that good in terms of their performance. We were pushed all the way by a very good team.
It’s a dangerous challenge and if you’re offside, you’re offside.

'I think the referee could have just kept it at a yellow'

Reaction from Phil Parkinson is in now via the BBC, with the Wrexham boss understandably proud of his team's performance while also suggesting George Dobson should not have been sent off.

The referee gave a yellow. I'm not sure of the rules, it's the first time we've had VAR and it has to be clear and obvious to overturn it. I think the referee could have just kept it at a yellow.
I said at the break in extra time there are still going to be chances for us. Unfortunately we didn't take one but we have to take a lot of heart from that performance.
It's been a great cup run. Tonight was a great spectacle and we were competitive against a very good side. We will take a lot of positives from it.

Garnacho: 'These games are different, you have to fight'

Alejandro Garnacho was full of praise for Wrexham for their performance after his goal helped Chelsea eventually see off the Championship side in extra time.

Speaking to the BBC, Garnacho said:

Incredible win, I think it was one of the hardest games of the season.
When you play this type of game it is always difficult. We do not care who are the opposition. We are proud and we are in the next round.
These games are different, you have to fight. I think the opposition played really good and scored some goals. We did it in extra time and now are in the next round, so that’s it.

On his goal, Garnacho added:

It was a great goal, a great pass from Dario, I attacked the back post and scored, so I am really happy.

FULL-TIME: Wrexham 2-4 Chelsea

Job done - in the end for Chelsea.

The Blues made hard work of it but have eventually got past Wrexham.

The hosts have performed admirably this evening, with their fans and owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac giving their Wrexham side a standing ovation at the end of the match.

'One of the hardest games of the season so far,' Alejandro Garnacho admits in his instant reaction to the BBC.

Goal:Wrexham 2-4 Chelsea (Joao Pedro)

Chelsea get over the line.

Joao Pedro makes full use of the space in the closing stages.

He works the ball onto his right and steers a shot low into the bottom corner.

Wrexham 2-3 Chelsea

Just two minutes to play.

Chelsea are nearly there.

Wrexham 2-3 Chelsea

That was the chance for Wrexham as we enter five minutes of added time.

The ball comes to Lewis O'Brien on the edge of the box and he looks to bend one into the far corner.

O'Brien's effort is just wide of the target. He hangs his head, he knew that should have been the moment.

Wrexham 2-3 Chelsea

Wrexham are not backing down. Quite literally.

Kieffer Moore accuses Marc Curcurella of cheating after he goes down under his challenge, prompting anger from Garnacho and Benoit Badiashile.

Moore and Badiashile then go head-to-head.

Moore goes into the book. As does Garnacho for waving an imaginary yellow card.
