Girl, 17, dies in car crash as 17-year-old boy driver is arrested and heartbroken family say she had 'her whole life ahead of her'
A 17-year-old girl has been killed in a crash - as her heartbroken family paid tribute to the 'bright, beautiful and loving' teen who 'had her whole life ahead of her'.
Megan Swann died when the blue Ford Fiesta she was a passenger in veered off the road and collided with a tree in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire.
She was pronounced dead at the scene on Redricks Lane just after 9pm on Wednesday.
Two other teenage girls, who were also passengers in the car, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The driver, a 17-year-old boy, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing injury by dangerous driving.
In tribute to Megan, her family said: 'Megan was a daughter, sister, niece, granddaughter, cousin and friend.
'She was a bright, beautiful, caring and loving young girl.
'If you met her once you would never forget her. You would hear Megan before you saw her and hear her laughter.
'She was doing so well with her college and was on track to pass her hair and beauty course with flying colours.

'She was only 17 with her whole life ahead of her.
'Her sudden death has left us all with a deep ache that will never heal.
'She will be forever missed. Megan, we all love you xx'
Detective Sergeant Ben Heath from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit, added: 'Our thoughts are with Megan's family at this difficult time.
'I am appealing for any information that could help with our enquiries. Did you see a blue Ford Fiesta travelling in the area at the time?
'Or did you witness the events leading up to the collision?
'If you were travelling in the area and have a dash cam fitted, please review your footage as you may have captured something which could assist our investigation.'
