Police launch hunt for driver after car ploughs into woman in sickening hit-and-run
A manhunt is underway for a driver after a car ploughed into a woman at speed then drove off – in what is feared to be a targeted attack.
The woman in her 20s was sent 'flying' across the street and over the car bonnet as she was walking along Harrow Manorway, in Abbey Wood, on Sunday afternoon.
Harrowing footage of the crash shared on social media shows the victim trying to get into a parked car before another vehicle strikes her from behind – propelling her metres down the street.
Seconds later, other people nearby can be seen desperately rushing to the woman's aid and crouching above her on the road. One man later appears to pull out his phone and make a call.
Paramedics and police arrived at the scene in minutes and the woman was treated on the road before being rushed to hospital.
Incredibly, she survived the collision and her condition was deemed not to be life-threatening or life-changing.
The Metropolitan Police said the car did not stop and has appealed for help in identifying the driver. No arrests have been made and the force is considering 'any possible motive'.
Locals fear it could have been a 'targeted attack' as the video appears to show the red car swerve towards the woman before hitting her.

One person said: 'That poor woman looks like she was targeted. It's appalling. The driver did not stop. How on earth did that happen?
'The whole street is in shock. It's full of families and children.'
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: 'We were called at 4.35pm on Sunday 8 March to reports of a road traffic collision on Harrow Manorway, SE2.
'We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and a paramedic in a fast response car to the scene. Our first crews arrived in less than five minutes.
'We treated a woman at the scene and took her to hospital as a priority.'
A spokesperson for the Met said: 'We realise the concern this incident will cause the local community and want to reassure that detectives are working at pace to identify the suspect.
'Enquiries are ongoing and we are keeping an open mind about any possible motive at this stage.
'Anyone with information that could help police should call 101 quoting CAD4804/8Mar.'
