Mother, 21, murdered her two babies three years apart and said 'Alright, whatever' after second heartless killing, police say

A Georgia woman has been arrested for the murders of her two infant sons, killed just over three years apart, after investigators grew suspicious of her cold and heartless behavior, police say.

Dakota Taylor, 21, has been charged with malice murder, felony murder and cruelty to children for the deaths of her seven-month-old son, Micah, in September 2021 and her eight-month-old son, Caleb, in January 2025.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) launched a probe into Taylor after officers noted her chilling behavior at the scenes of her kids' deaths.

She was arrested on Thursday for her role in Caleb's death after investigators concluded she allegedly deprived him of oxygen by causing excessive physical and mental pain, according to an arrest warrant obtained by WRDW.

'[Taylor] unlawfully and with malice aforethought, deliberately caused the death of Caleb,' the document stated.

On the day of Caleb's death, investigators said Taylor brought him to a family member's house.

When the relative met them in the driveway, they claimed that Caleb's head was covered, and Taylor blocked them from seeing the baby.

Taylor brought Caleb inside in his car seat. When the relative removed the blanket covering him, they discovered that a diaper was partially covering his face, and his lips were blue, according to reports.

He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators claim Taylor suffocated her baby.

After Caleb's death, investigators learned it was not the first time that one of Taylor's young children had died.

She has also been charged in Jefferson County with Micah's death after police said she obstructed his airways 'with malice and forethought.'

In September 2021, Taylor and her son were living at a Georgia Department of Family and Children Services group home.

An employee at the group home told investigators that Taylor fed Micah a bottle, then bathed him.

After the bath, Taylor placed Micah in a swing, and the employee noticed that Micah was slumped over, so they began CPR and called 911; however, he did not survive.

Body camera footage obtained by WRDW showed that officers found Taylor's behavior to be unusual.

'I don’t know if this has anything to do with anything, but the mother, didn’t... She was very.. Like "alright, whatever." And I was like your baby is,' one officer said.

Another officer said Taylor was acting 'nonchalant' when Micah was being carried out of the home.

GBI stated that she was being held at the McDuffie County Jail on Thursday; however, records indicate she has since been released.

It is unclear if she is currently being held as of Tuesday. Her arraignment hearing is scheduled for February 11.
