A postman was attacked in an apparent road rage brawl during a 'shocking attack' in a busy London street.

A thug - dressed in black shorts and T-shirt - was seen grabbing him by the neck in the grim assault.

The postie - in his distinctive red uniform - tries to defend himself as he was shoved into the open driver's side door of his Royal Mail van.

The pair continue to grapple as a stunned passenger in a van watched on.

The post van had been travelling in front of the other man's vehicle.

They had been in a verbal exchange before the physical altercation.

The man clad in black then can be heard saying: 'I was sitting behind you.

'You give it all the f*cking big ones.'

It happened on Tuesday afternoon on Leytonstone High Street, east London.

A Royal Mail spokesman said: 'This was a shocking attack and we condemn any form of physical or verbal abuse against our colleagues. The incident has been reported to the Metropolitan Police and we urge anyone with any information to contact them.'
