Prices for these 10 modern-classic supercars have gone into orbit in the past three months
There has been an unexpected boom in values of modern-classic supercars this year with collectors pumping huge amounts into securing exotic models from the 1980s to the present day.
Major automotive auctions taking place in the fist three months of 2026 have seen record prices paid for some of these motors, despite a background of global turmoil and shrinking financial markets.
This has seen values surging by as much as 200 per cent for what were already multi-million-pound models.
The phenomenon was triggered in January by Mecum's Kissimmee sale in the US, which saw a collection of modern-era Ferraris change hands for world record sums that had not been forecast by experts ahead of the auction.
But prices have continued rising for Ferraris - and some Porsches - since.
John Mayhead, editor of the Hagerty Price Guide UK, says this price trajectory at the top end of the market 'is like nothing I've experienced in nearly 15 years'.
There's been a dramatic increase in values of modern-classic supercars this year as collectors look to secure their money into four-wheeled assets
John tells us that in the first 75 days of 2026, there have been a number of major auction that have seen supercars obliterate their pre-sale estimates.
While it started with the Kissimmee auction in January, big ticket purchases were registered in Arizona the same month, then in Paris in February, and Florida this month - all of which have seen some unexpected sale prices for supercars.
'Despite – or maybe because of – the turmoil in the money and commodities markets, these price rises show little sign of abating although the rate of increase has given many a cause to urge caution,' John explains.
'The good news for the majority of enthusiasts is that these rises have had no noticeable effect on the main classic car market in the UK, that continues to settle.'
Here is a countdown of the 10 biggest supercar risers in 2026, with record prices increasing by between 54 per cent and 205 per cent.
10. Porsche 918 Spyder (2013 – 2015)
Auction record at 31st December 2025: $3,937,500M (£2,953,125)
Auction record at 16th March 2026: $6,050,000 (£4,537,500)
Percentage increase: 53.7%
This one-off Pure Orange Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach - which had just 845 miles on the clock from new - in January set a new record high sale price of $6m for the 918 model
The 918 Spyder was one of a tripod of original hybrid supercars launched in the mid-2010s alongside the Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1.
It has always been an incredibly valuable car, with the previous record price set in December 2023 at the RM Sotheby's White Collection auction in the US, when nearly $4M was paid for a one-off 918 Spyder Weissach with bespoke factory interior, paint-to-sample Grand Prix White exterior and just 12 miles from new.
Then, in January at Mecum's Kissimmee auction in Florida, another paint-to-sample car, this time a 2015 example in Pure Orange and with 845 miles on the clock, smashed the record, selling for just over $6million - a near-54 per cent inflation in the all-time record price paid.
9. Ferrari F40 (1987 – 1996)
Auction record at 31st December 2025: $3,965,000 (£2,973,750)
Auction record at 16th March 2026: $6,600,000 (£4,950,000)
Percentage increase: 66.5%
A four-year record for the highest price paid for a Ferrari F40 has been broken three times already in 2026. This 458-mile 1992 example is the new benchmark for the famed nameplate
The summer auctions during Monterey Car Week in California have traditionally been the place where auction records fall, and in 2022, Gooding's Pebble Auction saw the record set for the Ferrari F40 when a concours-winning US-spec car with 1,832 miles from new sold well over top estimate for nearly $4million.
But having stood for almost four years, that record has been beaten three times already in 2026.
The top price of all set at $6.6million at Mecum's Kissimmee auction in January was for an example from the famed Bachman collection.
A staggering 46 motors from late US exotic car dealer Phil Bachman, who died in August - were offered to the highest bidders, with his all-original US-spec, one-owner 1992 F40 with 458 miles from new setting the new price ceiling for the famous Ferrari nameplate.
8. Ferrari F430 (2004 – 2009)
Auction record at 31st December 2025: $412,000 (£309,000)
Auction record at 16th March 2026: $737,000 (£552,000)
Percentage increase: 78.9%
This 2007 Ferrari F430 set a new world record sale price earlier this year. It might have partly been helped by the car's original owner - can you guess who it is by the number plate?
In price terms, the most affordable of the ten listed is the F430. Yet, values have soared in 2026.
Back at Pebble Beach in 2022, Gooding & Co (now Gooding Christie's) sold a 2008 F430 manual in black with a black, red-stitched leather interior for a well over estimate $412,000.
This January at the Kissimmee Mecum Auctions sale, a red 2007 F430 with the less desirable F1 gearbox sold for an impressive $737,000, although this one had an interesting story, the first owner having been a certain Donald J Trump.
7. Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta (2014 – 2015)
Auction record at 31st December 2025: $1,650,000 (£1,237,500)
Auction record at 16th March 2026: $3,080,000 (£2,310,000)
Percentage increase: 86.7%
The value of Ferrari 458 Speciales were already rising towards the end of 2025, but the record price paid for one has rocketed by almost 90% this year
While Ferrari 458 Speciale prices had already been rising before the start of this year - especially the desirable Aperta (open-top) version - the new record price paid for one is already nearly 90 per cent higher than the pre-2026 highest.
The previous $1.65million record set by RM Sotheby' online in June 2025 was smashed by another Bachman car at Kissimmee this January.
This was a one-off commissioned from Ferrari in yellow with a blue/yellow interior and had just 58 miles from new. It sold for more than $3million.
6. Ferrari 599 GTO (2010 – 2012)
Auction record at 31st December 2025: $2,040,000 (£1,530,000)
Auction record at 16th March 2026: $3,960,000 (£2,970,000)
Percentage increase: 94.1%
This 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO sold for almost $4million in January. The pre-2026 record was just $2million
Prices of the 599 GTO, the road-legal version of the 599XX track car, had already topped $2million at the RM Sotheby's sale in Monterey in August 2025 when it more than doubled the previous record.
However, another delivery mileage Bachman car - this one with only 104 miles on the clock - smashed it again this January.
The 2011 yellow and blue car may not be subtle on the eye, but it caught the attention of buyers in Kissimmee, selling for a shade under $4million.
5. Ferrari Monza SP2 (2019 – 2022)
Auction record at 31st December 2025: $2,536,250 (£1,902,188)
Auction record at 16th March 2026: $4,955,000 (£3,716,250)
Percentage increase: 95.4%
This two-seat Ferrari Monza sold at auction earlier this month for almost $5million, which is nearly double the previous record
The two-seat version of the Ferrari Monza may not be the most practical of cars, but it is a rapidly growing collectable.
Very few have hit the market, although RM Sotheby's set the bar at just over $2.5million at their Abu Dhabi auction in December 2025, a price that was smashed by Broad Arrow at The Amelia, Florida in March 2026.
With red exterior over blue trim and with just 16 miles from new, the car nearly doubled the old auction record.
4. Ferrari 599 SA Aperta (2010 – 2011)
Auction record at 31st December 2025: CHF 1,784,750 (£1,618,000)
Auction record at 16th March 2026: $4,950,000 (£3,712,500)
Percentage increase: 129.4%
Another Ferrari from the Bachman collection sold in January for a new record. This 599 SA Aperta's $5m auction sale was 130% up on the previous record
Just 80 examples of the 599 SA Aperta were created to commemorate design house Pininfarina's 80th anniversary.
A stunning car in blue with red interior sold very strongly in October 2025, auctioned by RM Sotheby's in Zurich for 1.75million Swiss Francs.
That record fell again at Kissimmee, when another Bachman special creation, this time in yellow and green, fetched nearly $4million.
3. Ferrari 288 GTO (1984 – 1986)
Auction record at 31st December 2025: $4,405,000 (£3,303,750)
Auction record at 16th March 2026: €9,117,500 (£7,885,000)
Percentage increase: 138.7%
A 1984 Ferrari 288 GTO sold in February in Paris for almost 140% higher than the pre-2026 record
The earliest of the 'Halo' Ferraris in this list has been growing steadily in value over the past few years, with the previous auction set by RM Sotheby's in 2022.
That was a traditional Rosso Corsa example, reportedly with a special factory engine, sold in Monterey for $4.4million.
That record stood until this year, since when three others have smashed the record, the highest a 1984 example that was sold by Gooding Christie's in Paris this February for €9.12million.
2. Ferrari Enzo (2002 – 2004)
Auction record at 31st December 2025: €5,400,000 (£4,639,680)
Auction record at 16th March 2026: $17,875,000 (£13,406,250)
Percentage increase: 188.9%
The Ferrari Enzo is one of the iconic supercars of the modern era, and values have been soaring in 2026. The Kissimmee sale saw the record price paid increase by a massive 190%
Another 'Halo' car, the Enzo was already a very valuable before the start of 2026, with the previous record set at €5.4million by Monaco Car Auctions in June 2023.
That was a very special car indeed, owned by double F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso, it was the first Enzo built and had 4,800km from new.
Then, this year, prices went into overdrive and a Giallo Modena example, part of the now famous Bachman collection, sold for $17.9million in Kissimmee.
Some thought that was a one-off sale, but it was one of five Enzos to sell for over $9million this year, including a low-mileage black car sold by Broad Arrow in March for $15.2million.
1. Porsche Carrera GT (2003-2006)
Auction record at 31st December 2025: $2,200,000 (£1,650,000)
Auction record at 16th March 2026: $6,715,000 (£5,036,250)
Percentage increase: 205%
This Gulf Blue Porsche Carrera GT is the third example to have set a new record for the nameplate in 2026. The $6.7m price is 205% higher than the pre-2026 record
Surprisingly for many, the top car in the list isn't a Ferrari, but a Porsche, the Carrera GT.
The previous $2.2million auction record set by Mecum at Glendale in 2022 was broken first in 2026 with a $3.1million sale by RM Sotheby's in Arizona in late January this year, broken a month later by the same company in Miami at $3.3million, before Broad Arrow smashed the record in March at The Amelia with a $6.7million price.
The latter was a stunning car, painted in Gulf Blue over Ascot Brown interior with various desirable options including XT bucket seats but even so, it was a huge number.
