Fashion fans have gone wild for a bargain pair of brown loafers from the high street.

Gen Z's most popular it-girls and TikTok influencers have found the perfect balance between staying warm, being comfortable and, most importantly, remaining fashionable - and have put their faith in a pair of chocolate brown loafers.

And the greatest part about the high street favourite is that they're a dupe of high fashion brand Yves Saint Laurent - all for a fraction of the price.

Trusty high street staple store Marks and Spencer is offering customers an almost identical version of the fashion house's leather cognac-coloured loafer.

The flat suede loafer comes in dark brown, black and tan and is a fraction of Yves Saint Laurent's £770 shoe at a bargain price of £55.

Fans are flocking to their local stores and taking to social media to share their finds - while celebrities such as ex Made In Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo have gushed over the thrifty find.

Gemma Ellison (@gem.ellison) took to TikTok to show off a video of the shoes in store and said: 'Oh my god ladies M&S have done it again.

'I cannot believe how similar these are to the YSL loafers. The YSL [ones] retail at £770 and the Marks and Spencer's version is £55.

'Leather upper and Insolia insole so they'll be nice and comfy - absolutely gorgeous for Spring neutral outfits. They also come in the chocolate brown suede and again in the black leather.

'They are literally identical to the YSL ones. they're just missing the little gold form there. They've absolutely smashed it once again.'

Adeola Gboyega (@adeolagboyega) also gushed over the shoes, explaining she'd been on the hunt for them for a while when she stumbled across them in her local shop.

She wrote over a picture of the shoes: 'These YSL peny loafers have been n my wishlist for ages, I actually bought them las year when they arrived, they were too bug (crazy, right? It's like my feet have shrunk!).

'I had to return them and pre-ordered a small size because they were OOS everywhere and so they won't be here until February but I found something...

'In the meantime, I popped into @Marks&Spencers yesterday and found a stunning pair that I think are a great, affordable alternative!

'I think they're absolutely gorgeous!'.

Another, Lily Drummond (@endlesslylily) urged her followers to hop on the trend, telling them she has been 'lusting over' the shoes.

She wrote on her video: 'Lusting over the Saint Laurent Le loafer in chocolate Brown and found almost the same loafers on Marks and Spencer for a fraction price point,' before showing off her recent purchase.

And even reality star Georgia Toffolo, who is engaged to BrewDog founder James Watt has been singing their praises online.

In a video shared to her Instagram earlier this month showing off her outfit, she revealed she had also bought a pair of the viral shoes, telling her followers: 'And these loafers that I got from M&S' before making a shocked face.

The shoe has proven so popular that the website says it has been sold 34 times in the last 48 hours, with shoppers complaining they've sold out online and they can't find them in store.

Fashion fans said: 'They are sold out on line'; 'No longer available!'and 'Can not find them on website either??'.

M&S is not the only high street retailer to have offered buyers a 'dupe' version of the swanky shoe.

Other brands have also spotted the potential in the knock-off loafers, with Arket offering a slimline pair for £189 and Dune enticing fashion fans with a mid-price version at £89.

This is not the first time M&S has gone viral for creating affordable versions of high-end luxuries, with one of its handbags becoming one of the most coveted accessories earlier this year after it was compared to an Hermes bag.

The £9.50 black leather handbag included a small gold clasp and a strap to transform it in to a cross body bag and was a fraction of the Hermes £16,450 version.

The designer dupe proved so popular it sold out online, leaving only the tan option available.

Fans were shocked by the dupe which was strikingly similar to the Hermès Kelly Sellier 28cm Bag.

Ciara O'Dohertyy from Ireland, who uses the handle @ciaraodohertyy, shared an unboxing video just before the bag went viral.

This prompted countless comments from viewers, including 'That's beautiful!', 'Pretty' and 'I love the style, simple and classic'.

Social media users caused the black handbag to sell out online after discovering its resemblance to Hermes - with just the tan version left in stock.

The sleek faux leather design incorporates an adjustable shoulder strap that can be worn across the body or flung over one shoulder, while its 21.5cm x 27cm x 10.5cm dimensions are proving to be perfect for carrying everyday essentials.

The product description on the M&S website reads: 'This versatile faux leather bag can be carried by the top handle or worn across the body for a more relaxed look.

'You can adjust the long strap to achieve the perfect fit or remove it completely for an alternative look.

'Undo the twist lock on the flap closure to reveal two internal compartments and a handy slip pocket to keep your items neatly organised.'
