Beloved UK holiday park, with its own golf course and retail village, plunges into administration

A beloved holiday park in the Suffolk countryside has gone into administration after operating for decades.

Stonham Barns Holiday Park, in Stonham Aspal, first opened its doors in 1987 and the current managers took over in 2001.

However the resort, which boasts its own nine-hole golf course, a retail village, museum and fishing lakes, filed for administration on February 16.

It appointed FRP Advisory which confirmed in a statement to the Daily Mail: 'The appointment follows a period of financial pressure on the business.

'The administrators are focused on continuing to trade the site while seeking a buyer, with the aim of securing the park's future as a going concern.

'All existing holiday bookings will be honoured, and the site will continue to take new bookings.

'All facilities will remain operational as normal throughout the administration process.'

David Hudson, who is a joint administrator and partner at FRP Advisory, reassured customers they can book 'with confidence' and existing holidays are 'unaffected'.

He emphasised the company is 'focused on business as usual' while 'actively marketing the site for sale'.

They are welcoming bidders who wish to take on the caravan park.

It comes after another UK holiday park, Parkdean Resorts, launched its new all-inclusive packages across 42 parks nationwide.

The new offering will boast prices starting from just £25 per adult and £10 per child per day.

It is designed to give holidaymakers hassle-free getaways at a bargain price, with three meals a day and unlimited soft drinks – including Costa Coffee – all included in the cost.

All-inclusive is available only on four-night Monday-Friday breaks during certain spring and early summer dates.

To book an all-inclusive holiday, guests must go through Parkdean Resorts' usual booking process and choose all-inclusive as an add on when checking out.

Alternatively, it can be added on at the park after arrival.

The upgrade is available at 42 parks in coastal and countryside destinations across England, Scotland and Wales.

It includes favourites such as Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Norfolk, Snowdonia, the Isle of Wight, and the Lake District.

Caravan holidays with Parkdean Resorts start from £89 for four nights, meaning a family of four can enjoy four nights with food, drink, and accommodation for as little as under £93 per day.

Andy Edge, chief marketing officer at Parkdean Resorts, said: 'Following the huge success of our trial at ten parks in 2025, we are rolling out our all-inclusive offer to a total of 42 holiday parks this year – making us one of the largest providers of all-inclusive UK holiday park breaks.

'Families of four can save over £300 by going all-inclusive, making this an extremely cost-effective option for families seeking action-packed breaks in some of the UK's most scenic and sought-after locations.'
