Revealed: WWE give CM Punk 'huge' WrestleMania 41 opponent for his 'first Mania clash in 12 years... as Triple H locks in a marquee match early

  • CM Punk missed out on WrestleMania 40 after suffering a torn bicep in January
  • But he is gearing up to make his first WrestleMania appearance in 12 years

WrestleMania 41 is set to take place in April 2025 in Las Vegas and while there are still nearly eight months between now and then it seems WWE are working to set up several huge matchups for the event.

CM Punk is set to step back into the ring for a WrestleMania event for the first time in  12 years.

Fans had been eager to see the Second City Saint back in the WWE, and following his return to the company in 2023, they'll now get a chance to see him take on one of his long-standing rivals at WrestleMania 41.

But this year has been a tough one for the 45-year-old.

Following his AEW exit, Punk joined up with WWE again, but has only stepped into the ring twice this year, after suffering a torn bicep competing in his first televised WWE match in 10 years, during January's Royal Rumble.

Punk had been set to fight at WrestleMania 40, but admitted after sustaining the injury that 'that was no longer on the cards.'

But he added to fans inside the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida: 'But I'm a Chicago Cubs fan, and this isn't the first time and it won't be the last time I say this: There's always next year.'

Despite that, Punk had revealed that he was set to go up against long-standing rival Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight championship.

Punk was subsequently removed from the card, with Rollins going on to successfully defend his belt against Drew McIntyre.

But according to WRKD Wrestling, the pair could be set to meet in a huge clash at WrestleMania 41 next year, with Triple H looking set to lock in what will be one of the marquee matches of the weekend early.

WRKD Wrestling posted a picture of the pair facing off on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, 'WrestleMania 41' implying that the pair are set to go head-to-head.

The pair hold a heated and long-standing rivalry, despite Rollins previously making it clear at Survivor Series back in 2023 that he could not stand CM Punk.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated Media, Rollins said on Punk: 'For a guy (CM Punk) who, when I met him, made it seem like he was all about giving back to the business, he really turned into a pretty selfish guy and really wanted to take more from the industry.

'He (CM Punk) said some really bad things about me. Talked down about me for years, and the company (WWE), for years. I’m talking some really bad stuff.

'Called me a bootlicker and crap like that. You don’t know me. You don’t know what I stand for. I’m a loyal person, and I felt pretty insulted by a lot of the ways he treated me, treated the place I work for, treated friends that I worked with.

'I don’t need to get into any of the stuff with Colt Cabana if you want to look at that kind of stuff, that’s out there.

'I also felt like he’s a fraud in that sense, or at least turned into one at some point in the last decade. That’s the long of it. It’s a deep-rooted, I wouldn’t call it hatred, but there’s animosity there.'

The pair have met in the ring several times before with CM Punk and Rollins once teaming up to win a tag team match on NXT in 2012 against Antonio Cesaro and Kassius Ohno. They would later go head-to-head in the ring in 2013, with Punk beating Rollins on Raw.
