Fired-up Jon Rahm vowed to ‘let the clubs and the ball do the talking’ as he seeks Ryder Cup revenge after being controversially snubbed for PGA Tour player of the year.

The riled Spanish world No 1 finished runner-up to US opponent Patrick Cantlay for the award despite posting better scores over the course of the season. 

And on the eve of battle at Whistling Straits, he wants victory on foreign soil to cap what has otherwise been ‘a wonderful year’.

Rahm, who was privately said to be seething at missing out, will be a key man as Padraig Harrington’s underdog Europeans seek an upset on the shores of Lake Michigan.

‘Hopefully like I’ve done so far this year, I’ll let the clubs and the ball do the talking and I’ll leave the speeches and the leadership to the guys who have been doing this for a long time,’ he said. 

‘It would be a very nice end to what has been a wonderful year.’ Rahm also called for a repeat of their one-sided 2018 triumph in Paris.

‘That win in France, you create a bond that’s unforgettable,’ he added.

‘It would be a really good feeling to be able to do it in my first try on US soil.’
