Southampton are confident of securing the signature of Kyle Walker-Peters before Friday's transfer deadline.
The south coast club are set to land defender Walker-Peters on an initial loan with talks ongoing over whether the deal will also include an option or obligation to buy for a fee of around £12m
The 22 year-old has only made five appearances this season and just one under new manager Jose Mourinho but will give Southampton another option at right-back with Cedric Soares out with a knee injury and Yann Valery just returning to full fitness.
Southampton are confident of wrapping up a January move for Tottenham's Kyle Walker-Peters
Walker-Peters has been the subject of interest from Crystal Palace and West Ham during this window though it is Southampton who believe they will get his signing over the line and make him their first addition this month.
Defender Jannik Vestegaard could still leave if Leicester offer more than the £18m Southampton paid Borussia Monchengladbach to sign the Dane in July 2018.
Leicester hoped to land the 27 year-old for £15m but Southampton have no need to sell and will only consider letting Vestegaard go if they are able to make a profit.
The young full-back featured in pre-season but has played just five games this season
