'No dressing room is just two people': Swansea skipper Matt Grimes pleased for Oli McBurnie and Dan James but insists his side have moved on
- Oli McBurnie went to Sheffield United and Dan James to Manchester United
- Manager Graham Potter also jumped ship to take over at Brighton in the summer
- Many tipped Swansea to struggle but they are performing well this term
Losing Dan James to Manchester United, Oli McBurnie to Sheffield United and manager Graham Potter to Brighton was supposed to leave Swansea in a bind.
Three pieces vital to last season's puzzle were gone and expectations were tempered when Steve Cooper, formerly of England Under 17s, was brought in as the new boss.
Matt Grimes, Swansea captain and the 2018-19 Player of the Season, still speaks to James and McBurnie about life in the Premier League.
Matt Grimes is happy for his old team-mates but insists Swansea have moved on
If things go as planned, he, and the rest of his Swansea team-mates, will get a taste in 12 months' time.
'I am always still talking to Dan and Oli and we are obviously so pleased with how they are doing,' he said.
'But we have moved on from that. We had to move on quickly. They were two big characters in the dressing room but no dressing room is just two people and no team is just two people.'
A short trip across the M4 took them to promotion rivals Bristol City on Saturday where a stalemate saw the Swans go level on points with league leaders Leeds, following their late collapse at home against Derby.
Daniel James is one of the major losses Swansea suffered as he went to Manchester United
The season is only eight games old, baby steps in what is a long slog to escape the Championship, and while 'confidence in the camp is high', Grimes has little interest in league position right now.
'The thing is we are eight games in, we are not looking at the league table,' he said. 'You start looking after Christmas I think.
'We just want to win every game but it's a start, we need to maintain it. We came here and dominated the game. We were happy with the performance and disappointed not to take all three.'
