IAN HERBERT's take

Here's Ian's take on the game from the stadium. One of the best in the business, I must say, if not the best.

He's chosen to focus on the idea that Arsenal can play good football. He's not wrong. They were very good tonight - one of their most complete performances of the season.

Arteta: 'We were at the level needed this season'

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal manager, TNT Sports:

The team was immense today, the way we started the game, showing so much domination, big chances. The keeper gave them a life.
They are a really good side. They can dominate you but we had players that elevated the standards to what we needed this season.
It was hard to see Eze's goal. You talk about technique and the reaction from the players around him. That is why he is here.
This is the Champions League. You get worried when you have chances but don't put them away but an incredible moment from Declan to win the game.
We need that more often. We have a lot of players that can do that.

Rice: 'You do anything to win'

Declan Rice, Arsenal midfielder, TNT Sports:

Third year in a row in the quarters. A really tough game against a really tactical team but we could have scored three or four.
I am shattered. It is non-stop, being in all the competitions still. But when you have a night like tonight you find energy and ways to win.
Everyone asks where you get the second burst of energy - I don't know.

On his goal:

I read the ball and knew I could step in front of him. My first call is protect the back line but when he wasn't on his toes I read it and the first touch set it up.
It's not quite Real Madrid, but I'm happy with it. You just do anything to win. Every single player in the squad does a job and you find that fire in your belly somewhere.

How the other English teams did

Not so well.

Already both trailing by three from their first legs, Chelsea lost 3-0 at home to PSG and Man City lost 2-1 on the night to Real Madrid. They are both out.

Liverpool and Tottenham play tomorrow. Both trail, though - and Newcastle are level with Barcelona - so Arsenal may well be flying the flag for the English teams for the rest of the competition!

Eze: 'We want to turn it into trophies'

Eberechi Eze, Arsenal midfielder, TNT Sports:

I don't know if I could dream of scoring a goal like that. I saw an opportunity to shoot, and I am grateful to God.
It is a special goal, I will remember it for a long time. Hopefully the first of many. I will watch it for a long time.
They are a tough team. We knew it would take moments and we did that as a team. At this stage it doesn't matter who you face, it's tough.
The aim is to turn this season into trophies. It has been our aim since the start.

Merson: 'Arsenal can do everything'

Paul Merson, former Arsenal forward, Sky Sports:

Arsenal played very well at times. They are just rolling... I don't want to say machine because it is disrespectful, but this is a machine that can do everything. They are a proper team.
A brilliant performance. Onto the quarter-finals. White was steady. Whoever comes in, he does a job.

Sporting await

We mentioned how Sporting were leading Bodo/Glimt in one of the other games, having come back from 3-0 down in the first leg.

Well, they won 5-0 and they now await Arsenal in the last-eight.

That will be a return for Viktor Gyokeres, but the Gunners will be heavy favourites there too.

The best chance they have ever had of winning the Champions League? Maybe.

Keown: 'Rice goes into other gears'

Martin Keown, former Arsenal defender, TNT Sports:

You have to give a word to the squad. Hincapie coming in, White. Very solid. Declan Rice in midfield.. the distance he covers, he seems to go into other gears in the Champions League.
Eze seems to be understanding what is required of him. Gyokeres deserves a mention.

The Champions League anthem rings around the Emirates after the full-time whistle is blown.

Saliba and Gabriel share and embrace as they celebrate another clean sheet. This Arsenal team will, I feel, take some stopping.
