Follow Liverpool vs Barnsley

We're done here, but the action continues tonight with Liverpool against Barnsley.

It's just hit half-time, and Barnsley have just halved the deficit to 2-1 - game on.

After scoring an absolute worldie in the first 10 minutes to make it 1-0, Dominik Szobozslai has just made the error of all errors...

You have to see it. Click below to follow along with Harry Bamforth.

The secrets of Hull's promotion charge

I just wanted to share this from Will Pickworth - it's one of his fantastic Inside The EFL columns.

He spoke to Hull's Sergej Jakirovic and Joe Gelhardt about how the team went from crisis club to Championship entertainers - and they will take on Chelsea at home in the fourth round of the FA Cup too.

Reds one up

Liverpool are already 1-0 up against Barnsley at Anfield, with Dominik Szoboszlai the goal scorer within 10 minutes. An absolute belter, too.

It does feel as though it's a matter of how many it'll be...

Free-to-air?

This has been spoken about a lot this weekend. Recently, the games have been on TNT Sports. I'll admit it... it doesn't feel right.

How do you feel about it? Surely the FA Cup should be free-to-air, right?

Macclesfield looking to topple Prem opposition again

Macclesfield got a good draw today. They are at home to Brentford, and that is a big tie.

It's not as good as it could have been - don't get me wrong. A big away draw would have been mega - but playing a Premier League team again has its pluses, and it'll almost certainly be on tele.

Also, Brentford have been upset before. Don't rule it out happening again.

Tonight's game

The - in theory - final match of FA Cup third round weekend gets underway in a matter of minutes, with Liverpool hosting Barnsley. We know the winner will take on Brighton.

Liverpool have gone quite strong, with the likes of van Dijk, Szoboszlai and Gakpo all starting.

Should be quite straightforward for the Reds. But we will see.

YOUR comments

  • stephenuk2688, Boscombe: Another easy draw yet again for city! And at home too!
  • Unknown, Spain: Newcastle away to premier league opposition. What a surprise said no one, ever.
  • Lidds, Basildon: Obviously the FA are trying to make sure Barnsley won't win it this year. Tough draw against Brighton once we've disposed of Liverpool.
  • Bacon-Pork-Sausages, South Africa: It’s funny to see that Salford are in the draw but Man Utd aren’t.

TWO all-Prem ties

In a contrast to the four of the last round, there are just two all-Premier League ties this time around.

There could even be one, if Liverpool lose tonight.

They are Liverpool (or Barnsley) vs Brighton and

Aston Villa vs Newcastle, which is tie of the round on paper.

'A couple of games jump out'

Ian Ladyman at Anfield:

Watched the Cup draw in the Anfield press room and it’s definitely the case that a couple of upsets – at Macclesfield and Wrexham – has whetted people’s appetites for what may be possible.
A couple of them jumped out at me. Chelsea at Hull City feels delicious while West Ham will not fancy a trip to Burton much.
Here at Liverpool, Arne Slot’s team simply need to win well against Barnsley.
Another home tie against Brighton will be the reward but Liverpool need a boost to confidence and belied as much as anything.
