Scotland defender Jack Hendry a target for MLS duo as contract runs down at Al-Ettifaq

Scotland international defender Jack Hendry is emerging as a target for the MLS ahead of this summer's World Cup.

The 30-year-old is playing for Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia after being signed by Steven Gerrard in 2023 but will become a free agent this summer when his contract runs out.

LA Galaxy and LAFC are understood to be among the franchises showing initial interest in the ball-playing centre back who started out at Celtic

Hendry is open to all offers in the UK and abroad and is excited by the prospect of a move to USA. However, there are other options also being considered.

Hendry hopes to cement his place in Steve Clarke's squad over the next few months following their dramatic qualification for the World Cup finals and they will learn who they face in Friday's draw.

And the prospect of continuing his club career Stateside after what he hopes will be a memorable tournament for his country certainly appeals to Hendry.

Initial enquiries have taken place for the 6ft 5ins defender, who has also played for MK Dons, Bruges and Oostende during a varied career, and he plans to make a decision in the coming months.
