Eddie Hearn says Gennady Golovkin has 'virtually agreed' to terms to fight Chris Eubank Jnr in London.

Speaking to Sky Sports, promoter Hearn said the two fighters could square off as soon as the autumn once a suitable venue has been secured.

Eubank is preparing to fight Tom Doran at the O2 on Saturday on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's IBF Heavyweight title clash with Dominic Breazeale.

The 26-year-old British middleweight champion has been working his way toward a world title shot since vacating his interim WBA title in October 2014.

Eubank suffered the first loss of his career to Billy Joe Saunders the next month.

In Golovkin, Eubank would face perhaps the toughest possible opponent in his route toward a middleweight title.

Golovkin holds the IBF, WBC, WBA (Super) and IBO world championship belts, is ranked the world's No 1 middleweight by The Ring Magazine, and has never been beaten in 35 professional fights.

The Kazakh fighter has also piled up an impressive knock-out record, notching 32 of his 35 wins before the fight went to the scorecards.

That knock-out percentage - over 91 percent - is the highest in middleweight division history.

Golovkin last stepped in the ring in Los Angeles in April, when he stopped Dominic Wade in round two.

Still, Eubank's promoter Hearn said his fighter was ready for the challenge.

'There's a few things to tie up but basically if everyone wants this fight then it's all there to sign,' added Hearn.

'If Golovkin really wants this fight, and I believe he does, and if Eubank wants the fight, which he does, then there's a real chance of that fight happening in London in the autumn.

'I think it would be a stadium fight.

'I think there would be the demand for 40-50,000 tickets. There is something nice about being in an arena but as we saw at Goodison Park [for Tony Bellew v Ilunga Makabu], you can guarantee a great atmosphere outdoors too.'
