It may look like a regular trendy warehouse home - but it all changes when you look UP: Why people can't stop talking about this cool Aussie hideaway

A warehouse is catching the eye of passersby thanks to a very unique feature perched above the front door.

Down a quiet street in Erskineville in Sydney's happening Inner West is a converted studio with a colourful mouth-shaped sculpture, dubbed the 'Big Lips', hanging by the roof.

Inside, the quirky home's walls are filled with eclectic artwork, with some echoing the style of the famous lips, and industrial-chic decor.

Warehouse conversions are common in the Inner West but this one's artistic lips, which were once used in Sydney's world-famous Mardi Gras, parade sets it apart.

The reason they came to be erected on the warehouse is unknown but many say the tongue used to be mechanical and move side to side.

Sydney artist Bradley Eastman, known as Beastman, repainted the lips in 2014 then the owners had Blue Mountains artist Rachel Szalay adorn them with the wattles and red flowering gums.

The modern style harks back to the 1930s building's origins. It was previously used as a photography studio and before that was an old mechanical factory.

When the iconic 'Lips' residence hit the market, it was listed with a $4million price guide but keen interest from buyers hiked the price north of what was expected.

The property last sold in 2021 for $3.6million while Erskineville's median house price sits at around $1.8million.
