Who is the favourite to be the next Man United manager as Ruben Amorim feels the heat? A current Premier League boss leads the odds with Sky Bet - while a former England chief is 5/1

Ruben Amorim is under fire once again after another dreadful Manchester United display saw them fall to a 3-0 defeat by rivals Manchester City on Sunday.

The Red Devils are languishing in 14th in the Premier League having only picked up four points from their opening four games.

An embarrassing exit from the Carabao Cup at the hands of Grimsby Town before the international break was the early nadir of a young season which threatens to be as woeful as the last.

Since Amorim's first game in charge, United have scraped 31 points in as many games - the worst record of all the ever-present Premier League clubs in that time.

And while he is still in a job, Sky Bet are running odds for the favourites to replace him.

They make Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner the favourite at 7/2 after he led the Eagles to FA Cup success last season.

Next up is former England manager Gareth Southgate at 5/1. He was touted as a potential favourite when Sir Jim Ratcliffe was just arriving, though he appears to have explored other avenues of work since leaving the Three Lions.

Four managers come in as joint-third favourites at 15/2 with Sky Bet.

Mauricio Pochettino is one of them and has been linked with the role in the past, though he is due to lead the United States to their home World Cup next year.

Zinedine Zidane is another name in the hat. A three-time Champions League winner from the dugout with Real Madrid, the French legend has been out of work since his second stint with the Spanish giants ended in 2021.

Former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also weighs in at 15/2 and he is a free agent after Besiktas sacked him in late August, just seven months after he joined. He led them to a fourth-placed finish in Turkey.

Nuno Espirito Santo is also at 15/2 and he too is available after parting ways with Nottingham Forest despite leading them into the Europa League.

Lower down the list, Unai Emery and Xavi have been given odds of 9/1, with Julian Nagelsmann on 11/1, and Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola on 12/1.

it is worth stressing, of course, that Amorim is still in a job at the time of publication.
