The Dutchman said of Gomez when asked what his team-mate's best feature is: 'His locker looks like a beauty section and he knows I tell him every time if I can buy some things from his pharmacy there so I would say his face.'
Gomez, on the other hand, knew Van Dijk was obsessed with his hair above any other body part or feature.
Van Dijk wrongly claimed Sol Campbell was Gomez's sporting idol growing up when it was actually fellow south Londoner and former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand.
Both players said they clicked as soon as Van Dijk arrived at Liverpool from Southampton in January 2018 for £75million.
'We are on the same level with a lot of things,' Van Dijk revealed. 'I said from day one I have a good understanding with him and I think you can see this season when we play together it shows we have a good understanding.
'He's done well since he first joined us because I looked a a picture the other day and he looked fat.'
Gomez added: 'As soon as he came to the club we clicked and we have good chemistry. I look up to him in a lot of ways.'
Van Dijk and Gomez will be hoping they are on the winning side on Saturday evening when they face rivals Arsenal.
