Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly in line for England call-up for Thomas Tuchel's first squad after inspiring Gunners to romp over Man City

Arsenal starlet Myles Lewis-Skelly is in line for an England promotion next month following his blistering breakthrough this season.

The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in English football following a string of excellent displays for the Gunners.

As Mail Sport revealed in January, the teenager has caught the eye of England scouts following his breakthrough at the Emirates.

And his rapid rise is set to result in Lewis-Skelly advancing through the England system when international football resumes in March.

Sources are not ruling out a call-up for the youngster into Thomas Tuchel’s first squad selection for next month’s matches against Albania and Latvia, particularly given the national team’s clear problems at left-back.

Failing that, Lewis-Skelly will earn his first-call up into the England Under-21s ahead of his expected promotion into the senior set-up.

There is generally a preference for players to run out for the Under-21’s before promotion into the full squad to ensure a clear pathway for elite talent is observed.

But the clamour for Lewis-Skelly - who scored his first professional goal for Arsenal in Sunday’s thumping 5-1 win over Manchester City - to earn an immediate call-up in to Tuchel’s squad is intensifying as a result of his excellent displays this season and England’s issues at left-back.

Luke Shaw has been beset by injury problems, while Ben Chilwell has played 45 minutes of senior football all season at Chelsea and Kieran Trippier has retired from international football.

Rico Lewis and Lewis Hall are both options at left-back for Tuchel, but Lewis-Skelly is now on the radar, too.

Meanwhile, Tuchel travelled to Italy last weekend to watch Kyle Walker make his debut for AC Milan derby.

Walker, 34, wants to stay in the international picture as he aims to win the remain gin seven caps to take him to 100 senior England appearances.

And Tuchel watched Walker play in Sunday’s Milan derby, a clear indication that the former Manchester City star remains in his plans.
