LAS VEGAS – A Las Vegas a pet shop owner accused of torching her store with 27 puppies inside was handcuffed and taken to jail after a judge raised her bail from $40,000 to $310,000.
It wasn’t immediately clear Friday if Gloria Eun Hye Lee could to raise the additional bail money. Her lawyers weren’t available after her court appearance.
Animal rights advocates say they’re happy that Justice of the Peace Janiece Marshall declared Lee a danger to the community and a flight risk.
Lee faces another court hearing Tuesday.
Lee is charged with 31 arson, conspiracy, burglary and attempted animal cruelty charges.
Firefighters rescued the puppies early Jan. 27 at Lee’s Prince and Princess pet store.
Authorities say security video shows Lee and a man identified as Kirk Bills setting the fire.
