EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State coach Tom Izzo says he’s proud every player who has stayed for four seasons to play for him has been to at least one Final Four.
The Spartans, though, haven’t advanced to the NCAA tournament semifinals since 2010 when Adreian Payne and Keith Appling were in high school.
Izzo says he doesn’t harp on the Final Four feat every day when he talks to Payne and Appling. The seniors both acknowledged they talk about it a lot.
Michigan State seems to have a shot to finish the season in five months among the nation’s elite college basketball teams.
The Spartans return six of their top seven and a veteran coach who has won a national title in one of six trips to the Final Four in 18 seasons.
