The Knicks said they were still on the board with LeBron James — and Saturday morning they were back in his boardroom.
The Knicks hope it was a good sign that team executives Glen Grunwald and Scott O’Neil met with LeBron James’ agent, Leon Rose, on Saturday morning in Cleveland in an unexpected encore to their big pitch session on Thursday.
The Knicks wanted to go out there again to talk to Rose about their salary cap, and partly how a potential new addition of Amar’e Stoudemire would effect their flexibility.
A report that the Knicks would fly to Cleveland last night to meet again with the James’ camp was denied by team president Donnie Walsh, who said the meetings with James were done.
Walsh said yesterday that Rose had called about questions regarding the Knicks’ cap and some of the scenarios the brass said they could swing during Thursday’s initial meeting.
