Plastic surgeons weigh in on Bad Bunny's changing look

When Bad Bunny stepped out onto the Super Bowl stage in a tailored white ensemble and sculpted beard, he looked every inch the high-fashion global superstar. But rewind five years and the 31-year-old Puerto Rican rapper cut a very different figure, sporting a rounder face, clean-shaven head and bold, brightly-colored clothes. Fans have marveled at the striking transformation , and while experts say fat loss, intense training and hair growth explain much of it, some believe subtle cosmetic tweaks have also played a role. Dr Gary Motykie, a plastic surgeon who has reviewed hundreds of photos of the star throughout the years but has not treated him, told Daily Mail that his sharper jawline and more structured face were consistent with fat loss — but may also suggest the subtle hand of a surgeon.

He said: 'Bad Bunny clearly took control of his own physique, and whatever happens to the body, happens to the face. 'When you work out for hours in the gym, and lose weight , what happens is you also see fat loss in the face and the jawline gets sharper. In particular, in someone who is not super heavy, that weight [fat] loss will get that sculpted jawline too. 'But I do notice that, in some photos, his face doesn't appear as long or his jawline looks broader, and maybe has a stronger chin, than it did in previous photos. 'In my opinion, that is suspicious for the use of fillers, to add to what we see with the weight loss and the new facial hair, that accentuates the jawline.'

Motykie did not examine Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, in person and based his comments solely on photos and videos of the star. Bad Bunny has not commented on his changed appearance and a representative for the singer did not respond to Daily Mail request for comment. Motykie said filler can be injected into the jawline and the angle at the back of the jaw to accentuate it and create a more masculine appearance. On Bad Bunny, he pointed to the angle at the back of the jaw in particular, which he said appeared to have suddenly become much more defined. He also suggested the star could have received a chin implant, noting his chin appeared larger in more recent photos, and a minor nose job to reduce the tip at the front of his nose.

But he said Bad Bunny's new hair and facial hair, and new fashion, have also affected his appearance. Bad Bunny has never been overweight, but in recent years he has adopted a stricter training and nutrition regimen, which may have prompted fat loss and muscle toning. Away from the stage, Bad Bunny is a talented wrestler, having won the WWE 24/7 Championship in 2021 after making his in-ring wresting debut at WrestleMania 37. His creative director, Janthony Oliveras, previously said of the star's commitment to the sport: 'I know it’s always been his dream. He stopped doing everything else. He’s always making music, but he stopped. He stopped doing everything to dedicate himself to this 100 percent.'

He told GQ : 'He trained twice a day, working on his technique, his body. It was like – since he blew up and started touring – it was the biggest change I’d seen.' Motykie also suggested that Bad Bunny may have veneers, saying that the smooth surface and bright white color of his teeth appeared more uniform than natural enamel typically does. Dr Daniel Naysan, a dentist at Bedford Dental Group in Beverly Hills, agreed with the plastic surgeon's assessment. He told Daily Mail: 'In my opinion, Bad Bunny did have some cosmetic dental work that involved porcelain veneers. The key giveaway that demonstrates this is based on the current look of his smile.

'It's very white, not common to get that white for natural teeth, opaque, uniform and symmetrical. 'More specifically, there is a lack of true character that our natural enamel usually displays. What I am looking at closely is if there is any surface texture, translucency, depth and variation in shade.' Cosmetic dermatologist Mona Seresht, who is based in Los Angeles and has not seen the singer as a patient, claimed in an Instagram video that Bad Bunny received buccal fat removal, where fat is removed from the cheek area.

Seresht also suggested that the star may have received jawline liposuction to make his jaw more angular. However, Motykie cautioned that either of these things could be attributed to the singer's weight loss, but that he may be using filler. Comparing photos from before and after his, Motykie said Bad Bunny appeared to have a fuller mid-face, which he said could be the result of filler.
