The new ghd Speed has arrived; ghd's ultra-fast hair dryer.

Giving you more power and control, the new model boasts four heat settings and four speed settings, while the clever cool-to-scalp and cool-to-touch feature means you can handle it by the handle or barrel for better styling and get close to the roots with more comfort.

Better still? It comes with five magnetic stylist attachments and a memory mode so you can personalise your perfect setting.

If drying speed is high on your wish-list when it comes to a hair dryer, then the new ghd Speed Iconic Hair Dryer certainly seems to tick the box.

Priced at £299, the new model is expectedly far from your average hair dryer. While most dryers crank up the heat to dry your hair, ghd's new model stays cool but still claims to deliver time-saving results.

While its moniker hints at lightening fast results, we put it to the test to see if the dual-airflow is money worth parting with.

At £299, the new ghd Speed is certainly an investment and won't be for everyone. Yet for those looking to invest in their hair health, and looking to shave off valuable minutes in their day this is a worthy buy.

More than just hot air, the ghd Speed has a long list of new features that sets it apart from its competitors. Most obviously, this dryer doesn't have to burn your scalp or fry your strands in order to give your fast results.

This is all thanks to the new halo dual-airflow technology. What this means is that it surrounds heated airflow with a halo ring of cool air, delivering powerful drying with a cool-scalp feel and cool-touch exterior even during extended use.

On busy mornings, the ghd can give you a helping hand

Not only does this mean no burnt scalp, but it means you can relax knowing your hair is protected, and regardless of the heat setting, you can hold it by the handle or the barrel for maximum manoeuvrability.

I have fine but long hair and have taken to washing my hair in the evening in order to save some time in the morning, so I was interested in seeing how quickly this could get me ready for the day.

The first thing I noticed was how lightweight the ghd Speed is. For a hair dryer that promises to be super speedy, I would have expected more weight; you can tell this is the result of years of scientific research and engineering, as this has taken the modern busy shopper into the heart of the design.

Designed to balance power with control, the new ghd hair dryer aims to give you salon-level results with control, precision, ease and speed

Reasonably lightweight, this allowed me to get into the roots comfortably with no arm ache, which allowed me more manageable styling; however, I held it.

What stood out most, though, was the high-pressure hot and cool airflow, which really did give me noticeably faster, precise styling without any uncomfortable scalp burn, which often happens when I crank the heat in order to blow-dry my hair under pressure.

For £299 I wanted a hair dryer akin to the ones I would see in a salon and this does fit the bill. ghd claims that this gives you 54 per cent less frizz than if you were to dry it naturally, and I can attest to this. My locks were sleek and styled under ten minutes, and have quite possibly converted me to a morning blow dry.

The ghd Speed Iconic Hair Dryer is now available to buy for £299.
